Sharon Lechter Recipient of 2015 Financial Education Instructor of the Year Award
LOS ANGELES, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Each year the National Financial Educators Council honors an outstanding financial educator by presenting him or her with the coveted Financial Education Instructor of the Year Award. The 2015 recipient is Sharon Lechter, whose history of delivering practical financial education programming, raising mainstream awareness, and promoting legislation to encourage improved financial competency among our nation's citizens make her a strong match for the NFEC's award criteria.
Sharon was selected because of her experience as an international bestselling author, financial literacy advocate and dedicated financial literacy educator. She is a national board member and spokesperson for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (AICPA) Financial Literacy Commission and is a member of the First President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy. She served both Presidents Bush and Obama in this capacity. An international bestselling author, she is the co-author of Rich Dad Poor Dad and 15 other books in Rich Dad series, Save Wisely, Spend Happily, released by the AICPA, and has three bestselling titles in cooperation with the Napoleon Hill Foundation, Think and Grow Rich-Three Feet From Gold, Outwitting the Devil, and Think and Grow Rich for Women.
Her efforts continue today with her award winning financial literacy college curriculum, Your Financial Mastery, new legislative efforts that will require financial education for students receiving federally backed student loans and her ThriveTime Challenge non-profit initiative. Sharon also travels internationally speaking and leading educational sessions for all ages on the topic of financial mastery.
The NFEC Financial Education Instructor of the Year award recognizes a single individual who has made markedly significant contributions to promoting financial wellness over the previous year. The NFEC contends that educators are the single most important influence on participant success; that's why the council created this award to recognize distinguished financial education instructors for their contributions.
Sharon is the Founder and CEO of Pay Your Family First (http://www.sharonlechter.com), an organization dedicated to financial literacy for youth and families. Pay Your Family First teaches the practical skills that will give youth and concerned adults alike the self-assurance to become masters, instead of slaves to money.
The National Financial Educators Council (www.FinancialEducatorsCouncil.org) mission is to create a world where people are financially capable to make sound, effective financial decisions that improve their lives and the lives of people they influence around the globe. The NFEC recognizes distinguished financial education instructors who have made significant contributions to the financial literacy movement.
