Shell Surprises Motorists in Cities Coast-to-Coast With Free Gasoline Giveaways

HOUSTON, Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Just weeks after surprising hundreds of lucky motorists with "Protect and Save" Gasoline Giveaways in four major cities from Seattle to Miami, Shell, the No. 1 one selling gasoline brand, is doing it again.  Today, the company will host another wave of consumer gasoline giveaways in four more cities coast-to-coast to showcase the benefits of saving on high quality fuel at Shell through loyalty rewards programs with leading grocers.

Shell understands that with the holidays quickly approaching, many consumers are evaluating their purchases more closely to ensure they're getting the most for their money. The "Protect and Save" gasoline giveaways already generated significant consumer excitement in Houston, Miami, San Francisco and Seattle at the end of September. Today, a select Shell station in the New York, Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth and Portland, Ore. areas will host the next wave of surprise Shell "Protect and Save" Gasoline Giveaways for a special 90-minute promotional period.

The Shell station and start time in each of these cities will be announced on the Shell "On the Road" Facebook page and through a local radio station at 6 a.m. local time letting lucky motorists experience Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines for FREE while being able to learn more about ways to save at Shell. Every vehicle that arrives at the designated Shell station within the promotional period will receive up to 15 gallons of regular-grade Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasoline, which cleans and protects critical engine parts against gunk to help improve performance as you drive.

Since 2009, Shell has been teaming-up with leading grocers across the U.S. through alliances that help motorists protect their wallets with savings on high quality fuels including Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines and Shell V-Power, the best selling gasoline and premium gasoline brands in the country.

Consumers can shop at participating grocery stores in more than 120 markets by using their existing grocer loyalty card on everyday qualifying purchases for additional savings. Not only can they save money on their grocery bill, but they can also earn rewards that can be redeemed for added savings at participating area Shell stations on high quality Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines and Shell Diesel.

Here are a few of the quality, neighborhood grocers with fuel savings programs that offer consumers the opportunity to save at Shell:

• Kroger Family of Brands: There are approximately 85 markets across the U.S. where Kroger family of brands shoppers can redeem valuable rewards at the pump. While offers may vary by market, consumers can earn a minimum savings of 10 cents per gallon for every 100 Fuel Points redeemed at participating Shell stations, up to 35 gallons of fuel per purchase.  The Kroger Family of Brands includes Fry's, QFC, Ralphs and Smith's among others.
• Lucky: With the Lucky Rewards program, shoppers in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose, Calif., can now redeem 5 cents per gallon for every $50 they spend at Lucky Supermarkets with their Lucky Rewards Card at participating Shell stations, up to 20 gallons of fuel per purchase. Fuel Rewards® savings accumulate, so shoppers can earn 5, 25, 50 cents or more per gallon on qualified purchases at Lucky Supermarkets. The Lucky Rewards program is part of the Fuel Rewards Network™.
• Stop & Shop: For every 100 Gas Rewards points earned with their My Stop & Shop Card at participating Stop & Shop stores in markets in the northeast, consumers can earn 10, 20, 30 cents or more per gallon when redeeming Gas Rewards at participating Shell stations. Consumers may redeem up to $2.20 per gallon in savings, up to 35 gallons of fuel per purchase. Shell has also teamed-up with participating Giant stores to offer a similar program.
• Winn-Dixie: With Winn-Dixie's fuelperks! Program, shoppers in several U.S. markets in the southeast can redeem 5 cents per gallon for every $50 they spend at Winn-Dixie with their Winn-Dixie Customer Reward Card at participating Shell stations, up to 20 gallons per fuel purchase. fuelperks! are stackable, so shoppers can earn 5, 25, 50 cents or more per gallon on qualified purchases at Winn-Dixie.
