Shift4 Payments Appoints Two C-Level Executives, Emphasizing Focus on Payment Network Development
ALLENTOWN, Pa., March 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Shift4 Payments today announced the appointment of Kevin Cronic as Chief System Architect and Steve Sommers as Chief Application Architect. The two positions lead the company's Payment Network Group, which represents state-of-the-art processing technology including PCI-validated point-to-point encryption (P2PE), tokenization and secure EMV processing. Through the Shift4 Payments network, nearly 200,000 businesses process over a billion combined annual transactions, representing $100 billion in credit and debit card volume each year.
Kevin Cronic has spent more than four decades developing software and system infrastructure. While the majority of his handiwork isn't seen by end users, Kevin's systems are what make Shift4's 99.98% system uptime possible. He is the primary developer of Shift4's Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG). He also designed and developed Shift4's communications connections to all the major payment processing companies. As Chief System Architect, Kevin will ensure that the company's system technology continues to exceed industry standards.
Steve Sommers has nearly 40 years of experience in software design and development. He is responsible for Shift4's user interface design and is the co-architect and primary developer of Shift4's application program interface (API). Steve has developed a wide variety of accounting software applications and specialty programs, including the majority of the auditing functions within the Shift4 payment gateway. He is a specialist in multitasking communications applications and is considered the father of Shift4's original payment application, $$$ IN THE BANK.
