Simon Group Holdings and Atlas Cares Host Team Selfridge Family Day Picnic at Centennial Celebration

BIRMINGHAM, Mich., Aug. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As an Atlas Cares initiative, Simon Group Holdings hosted the Selfridge Air National Guard Base (SANGB) family day picnic on August 18, 2017 to celebrate 100 years of service. They provided thousands of military members and their families with lunch and a variety of activities.

"Seeing the smiles on the kids' faces was the most rewarding part," commented Nada Simon, President of the Sam & Nada Foundation. "The bravery and sacrifice our service men and women demonstrate daily is remarkable. The picnic was a great way to bring the families together to celebrate all that our Air Force and military have accomplished throughout history."

In addition to the Atlas Cares picnic and family day activities, Team Selfridge put on an airshow for all families and service members to observe. USAF Thunderbirds soared across the sky; twisting, turning and diving through the air.

Selfridge Air National Guard Base is home to the 127th Wing and hosts more than 40 tenant organizations on base. It is one of the three oldest continuously operating air fields in the nation.

Simon Group Holdings and Atlas Cares began their affiliation with Team Selfridge in 2006 and have hosted an annual holiday celebration with over 3,000 attendees each year. This was the first year that they hosted the Team Selfridge family day picnic.
