SimpleFi President & Co-Founder Selected as One of Silicon Valley's '40 Under 40'
Silicon Valley Business Journal Honors Adam Potter for Business and Community Leadership
PALO ALTO, Calif., July 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SimpleFi, a leader in providing responsible financial opportunity to everyone, today announced that president and co-founder Adam Potter has been named to the Silicon Valley Business Journal '40 Under 40' list. This annual list highlights Silicon Valley's top stars under the age of 40 in every industry who have significantly impacted the business world, made a difference in their communities and blazed a trail for others.
SimpleFi partners with employers and nonprofits to provide accessible and affordable loans and financial coaching to employees who are under financial stress. As president and co-founder, Potter brings a unique perspective to the credit and lending space. He began his professional career in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving primarily in special operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and South Asia. He also spent time working with the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) on internal financial wellness programs, which have successfully counseled troops out of debt, into better financial behavior and away from predatory lenders. It was this experience that Potter wanted to take to the private sector.
Potter realized that when people are faced with a financial crisis, it becomes a top priority and can impact other parts of life such as productivity levels at work. SimpleFi was founded with the goal of creating responsible financial opportunity for everyone, understanding that obtaining affordable credit and financing - particularly for emergency situations - is a challenge for many across the country. In the three years since its inception, SimpleFi has developed a leading financial lending and education solution with an approximate 10 percent utilization rate within an organization - more than double that of typical Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) programs.
Potter holds a degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, is an alumnus of John Hopkins University and also spent time at the American University in Cairo honing his Arabic language skills.
The full list of "40 Under 40" honorees is available in the July 17 weekly edition of the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
