Sin City Welcomes New Vice
The Grove to Begin Recreational Marijuana Sales July 1
LAS VEGAS, July 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sin City is synonymous with pleasure, drawing visitors from all over the world. Beginning July 1, the decadent desert paradise will be able to add the legal use of recreational marijuana to the list of vices accessible to tempt visitors into debauchery.
The city's regulations regarding the new law will be enforced, but the long awaited change will make Las Vegas the most prominent tourist destination in the world to offer legal marijuana.
"It's an exciting time for Las Vegas and the cannabis industry," said Demetri Kouretas, CEO of The Grove. "There's no other tourist destination like Las Vegas that offers recreational marijuana, which is going to allow us to take this industry to the next level."
The cannabis industry has come a long way in the last 10 years. Dispensaries like The Grove, which operates a cultivation and production facility and two dispensaries, are prime examples of how much the industry has evolved. Cultivation facilities are now multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art operations, and dispensaries are well thought out businesses educating consumers about the products they offer.
"We strive to provide a great customer experience and to offer curated, all-natural products," Kouretas said. "We're also aware of our environment and the need to be eco-friendly. We make sure that our products are produced in an environmentally sensitive manner by minimizing energy consumption and conserving water."
Las Vegas residents voted last fall to legalize recreational pot, and it is estimated the industry will give the Nevada economy a $224.2 million boost in 2018, creating thousands of jobs.
Visitors and residents planning to take part should be aware of the rules and regulations. To purchase or consume, customers must be at least 21 years of age and present a valid form of identification. Use of marijuana in public or in casinos will be prohibited.
