SIS Delivers Advanced Interoperability With Siemens Soarian Clinicals To Improve Efficiency, Communication

ATLANTA, Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Information Systems ('SIS'), a leader in perioperative information systems, announced today that it has released a new version of its perioperative management solution for organizations using Soarian® Clinicals from Siemens Healthcare. The enhanced technology delivers additional interoperability with Soarian Clinicals that enables users to seamlessly access information and document care without duplicating efforts.

With this release, users can launch Soarian Clinicals from within SIS perioperative management, keeping the patient and user in context. For example, a pre-op nurse can perform common Soarian Clinicals activities, such as documenting a patient's assessment, as well as verifying and administering medications for that patient via the Soarian Medication Administration Check™ (MAK) application – all, directly from within the perioperative management system.

This enhanced level of interoperability also makes enterprise documentation available to the surgical team, which was not easily accessible in the past. An OR nurse, for example, may now view the patient record from Soarian Clinicals within his or her perioperative workflow, for example, to verify that a prophylactic antibiotic was administered or to see that a pregnancy test was performed. Having such information more readily available can further support an organization's patient safety, operational, and financial goals.
