Social Sentinel Names Rick Gibbs as President

BURLINGTON, Vt., Oct. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Social Sentinel proudly announces that Rick Gibbs has joined the company as president, effective October 1. Gibbs, the former CEO and co-founder of Dealer.com, has been an active advisor for, and an investor in, Social Sentinel since 2016, and member of the Board of Directors since late 2017. He brings to the executive team considerable expertise and success in software development and scaling companies at a time when Social Sentinel is poised for significant growth and expansion.

Social Sentinel is the market leader in providing safety and security insights on social media and public data sources. The company applies its expertise in linguistics, data science, public safety, and education to scan more than 1 billion public social media and public source posts daily to identify potential threats of harm or cries for help. When potential threats are identified, the posts are presented to clients as alerts, giving schools an opportunity to assess and intervene if necessary.

Gibbs co-founded Dealer.com in 1998, which was acquired by Dealertrack in 2014 for $1B. At Dealertrack, he was named co-president until the company was acquired a year later by Cox Automotive for approximately $4B. At Cox Automotive, Gibbs served as president of Software Solutions and then executive vice president and chief product officer.

Social Sentinel is experiencing triple-digit year-over-year revenue growth and has grown its employee base by 80 percent this year. The company is continuing the trajectory into 2019 with new product releases and additional hires in its Burlington headquarters, and expects to double in size in 2019.
