South Florida Businesses Vie For "Most Innovative" Awards
Entry Period for $10,000 Grants Ends August 31
MIAMI, Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- South Florida businesses and other organizations have until August 31 to enter the Wireless Technology Innovation Awards. Sponsored by Verizon Wireless and Motorola, winners will earn a $10,000 grant and recognition at an awards luncheon attended by area business and civic leaders.
The winning organizations will be announced and honored at the luncheon October 19 at the Fountainbleau Hotel on Miami Beach. The winners -- one for organizations with fewer than 50 employees, and one for organizations with 50 employees or more – also will be featured in a Verizon "Put Your Business on the Map" video.
Companies, non-profit groups and other institutions in South Florida will be evaluated for developing the most innovative applications and use of Verizon Wireless mobile technology to improve operations and serve their own customers.
Entries so far include a Miami-based locksmith and Verizon Wireless customer that used mobile technology to help grow from a small mom-and-pop shop to a national operation today with 65 employees covering 80 cities in 21 states.
Award applications will be reviewed by Verizon Wireless executives and "celebrity judges" from the local technology community.
