Special Education Teams Use Panorama to Strengthen IEP Quality and Cut Drafting Time by More Than 60%

New district results show how AI helps educators draft stronger IEPs while creating more time to support students

La Joya ISD improved its adherence to Texas intensity of IEP quality from 30% to more than 70% in one school year. At Mesquite ISD, teachers have cut IEP drafting time from two to three hours to 45 minutes.

La Joya ISD: Strengthening IEP Quality

La Joya ISD has been using Panorama's platform for student support and MTSS, providing educators with a connected view of academic data, MTSS progress, and intervention history. The district set an ambitious goal: move IEP quality from under 30% to the Texas Education Agency's 85% target by 2028-29. In one school year, La Joya reached more than 70% quality adherence, a 40-percentage-point improvement.

Measured by a third party against the Texas Education Agency's IEP quality rubric, the district saw gains across all three indicators: multiple data sources, observable and measurable baselines, and curriculum alignment. For students and families, that means plans that better reflect individual needs and connect to instruction, helping educators deliver the supports those plans call for. Overall, La Joya is tracking well ahead of pace to the agency's 85% IEP quality target for 2028-29.

Mesquite ISD: Reclaiming Capacity for Student Support

Mesquite ISD has similarly been using Panorama's platform for student support and MTSS work across its 52 campuses. Now, with Panorama Solara, the district is bringing special education into that same connected environment. As a result, special education staff have cut IEP drafting from two to three hours to 45 minutes per student—that's more than 10,000 hours of potential staff capacity that can be redirected to student support.

Mesquite is also seeing efficiencies across its broader MTSS work. Data analysis time dropped from two to three weeks to one to two days, helping the district identify 152 students for Response to Intervention, up from 16.
