Square Roots Hosts Resolution for Mothers Call-to-Action Assembly Focusing on Maternal and Infant Health, and Reducing U.S. Infant Mortality Rate

Who:         

The Square Roots^© Resolution for Mothers, a call-to-action assembly about how technology is being used to decrease infant mortality and maternal health complications. 

Themes:     

Tech and health/tech start-ups, venture funding, maternal health, infant death, private-public collaboration to help address chronic U.S. health issue.

Square Roots Founder & CEO, Morad Fareed, technology/wellness entrepreneur and pioneer of the Well Building Standard, will host the call-to-action assembly introducing the company's Medical Advisory Committee, company Advisors, and industry thought leaders including:

     • Larry Brown, Mayor of the City of Natchez, Mississippi (highest infant mortality rate in U.S.)

     • Dr. Elena Gates, Vice Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of
       California at San Francisco 

     • Richard Gephardt, Richard A. Gephardt, President and CEO of Gephardt Group Government
       Affairs (previously Majority Leader, United States House of Representatives) 

     • Terrie Inder, MD, PhD, MBChB, Chair of the Department of Pediatric and Newborn Medicine,
       Brigham and Women's Hospital 

     • Dr. Elizabeth LaRusso, Prenatal and Reproductive Psychiatrist, Allina Health/Children's

What:      

The Square Roots^© Resolution for Mothers will take place on the eve of the U.S. Conference of Mayors' 83^rd Annual Meeting and will bring leaders in the technology, healthcare, life science, NGO and nonprofit sectors together to develop new collaborative maternal health solutions. Organizations represented will also include:  Clinton Foundation 20/30, Orca Health, and Too Small to Fail.

Why:          

Overall the U.S. continues to rank poorly among the 27 wealthiest nations, with an infant mortality rate in the bottom quadrant.  Mississippi has the highest infant mortality rate and the most obesity of any state in the U.S. Larry Brown, Mayor of Natchez will speak during assembly about collaborative approaches to reduce this disturbing trend.
