Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Acquires Arcadia Vineyard in Coombsville AVA

NAPA VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Stag's Leap Wine Cellars has acquired the iconic Arcadia Vineyard from Arcadia Vineyards LLC founded by winemaker Warren Winiarski who recently passed away at 95 years of age.

Arcadia Vineyard is a 135-acre property with 84 planted vineyard acres, divided between Cabernet Sauvignon (59 acres), Chardonnay (22 acres), and Merlot (3 acres). The magnificent property is located at the foot of Mount George, on the east side of Napa Valley in the trendy Coombsville AVA.

Warren Winiarski purchased Arcadia Vineyard in 1996 from Mike Grgich's business partner, Austin Hills of Grgich Hills Estate. The vineyard was named after the idyllic land of Greek Mythology, Arcadia: a utopia of unspoiled wilderness and natural harmony.

Warren Winiarski had donated the natural habitat portion of the property to the Land Trust of Napa County, so in perpetuity it will stay in harmony with nature as intended and never be developed.

After the sale of Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in 2007, Arcadia Vineyard was retained by the Winiarski family and continued uninterrupted to provide grapes to the estate.

Marchese Piero Antinori, 25th generation vintner, stated, "My friend Warren Winiarski has always been very attached to this vineyard of his. When he decided to sell Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in 2007 he made it a condition that he could retain ownership of the Arcadia Vineyard. Warren, in fact, like us, recognized the Coombsville AVA as one of the most promising areas of the Napa Valley. This is why we are particularly thrilled today to have been able to reunite this vineyard with the Stag's Leap Wine Cellars property."
