Carstensen founded the Stanford Center on Longevity in 2007, years before longevity became a mainstream field of study, and directed it for nearly two decades. A Stanford professor for close to four decades, she is the author of "A Long Bright Future: Happiness, Health, and Financial Security in an Age of Increased Longevity" and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

As Co-Chairman, Carstensen brings Attilio the research behind its understanding of what a long life actually looks like.
