State Farm to Raise Funds for Virginia Tech Athletics Department on February 26

BLACKSBURG, Va., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday morning, February 26, State Farm will provide Virginia Tech fans with an opportunity to raise money for Virginia Tech's Athletics Department during the on-site telecast of ESPN's College GameDay (10 a.m. ET on ESPNU continuing on ESPN at 11 a.m.).

For every person who attends the morning show on Saturday, State Farm, which is sponsoring College GameDay for the fifth consecutive year, will donate $1 to Virginia Tech's Athletics Department, with a potential contribution of more than $10,000. The Athletics Department will use donations to help increase student involvement in campus athletics.  

Doors open at Cassell Coliseum at 8:30 a.m. Fans should show their school spirit by wearing team colors. The morning show is free to the public and tickets are not required. Students are encouraged to bring homemade signage.  

One lucky morning audience member will get the exciting opportunity to attempt a half-court shot.  If the shot is made, State Farm will give the person $18,000 representing the approximately 18,000 State Farm agents across the country and if they miss the shot, they will get $1,000!
