Stater Bros. Charities Donates Equipment Valued at Over $150,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Stater Bros. Charities and Stater Bros. supplier Frazier Industrial Company have teamed up to deliver a special project over the summer for Second Harvest Food Bank serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.  Since it began operation nearly 30 years ago, Second Harvest Food Bank has lacked the space and storage capacity to adequately store all the food that moves through its 56,000 sq. ft. facility.  At times, food has been damaged because product had to be piled on top of other product, and this damaged food could have been donated if not for the limitations of the building.

While touring the facility this past May, Stater Bros. Charities, which raises funds all year long through generous donations from customers, suppliers and members of the Stater Bros. Supermarket Family, recognized the need and offered to donate and install new structural steel pallet racking to Second Harvest Food Bank to enlarge its capacity and salvage more food for the community.  

Frazier Industrial Company, the same company that installed the racking at the new Stater Bros. Norton Distribution Center, signed on to the project as a champion in this unique endeavor.  

Estimated at over $150,000, this pallet racking donation is one of the largest Second Harvest Food Bank has been given over the years and will ensure the Food Bank operates with more efficiency as it meets the hunger needs of the various Southern California communities that it serves.  The donation will be announced by Stater Bros. Chairman and CEO Jack H. Brown at the Second Harvest Food Bank 30-Year Celebration event on Saturday, August 28th, at the Inland Empire 66ers Baseball Game in San Bernardino.  At this event, Brown will also be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award for his commitment to hunger relief.
