Success Drives Expansion of Locations for Verizon's Wholesale Ethernet Exchange Services

LAS VEGAS, March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon is expanding availability of its award-winning Ethernet services using the nationwide CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange to include Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Ethernet exchanges provide a neutral place for buyers and sellers to peer, connect and purchase Ethernet services.

Verizon announced the expansion, which is scheduled for the second quarter of 2011, at the COMPTEL Plus Conference and Expo in Las Vegas. The additional locations will address an increase in customer demand for Verizon's Ethernet exchange services, which the company launched in early 2010.

Verizon uses the CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange, a leading worldwide carrier exchange, to offer global wholesale carriers a range of options that support the carriers' customers, creating significant new revenue opportunities. Customers that take advantage of Ethernet exchanges can experience a quicker, simpler interconnection process, speeding up the time to market of their offerings.

At the CENX exchanges where Verizon is connected, carriers configure their network interconnection to CENX as they choose. CENX then handles the translations and interoperability between Verizon and its carrier customers as services are turned up, streamlining the detailed engineering of such service setups.
