KINGSBURG, Calif., March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun-Maid and HarperCollins Publishers kick off "Snack 'n' Read" where 200 daily winners through May 23rd will receive one of three best-selling picture books for a total of 14,000 free books. The 10-week promotion features classic hardcover books valued at $18 each beginning with the perennial favorite Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Wise Brown will illustrations by Clement Hurd; followed by The Grouchy Ladybug, by Eric Carle and Paddington, by Michael Bond with illustrations by R.W. Alley. Winners of Grouchy Ladybug and Paddington also get a bonus audio download of the story, an additional $13 value.
"Snack 'n' Read promotes early childhood reading with a healthy twist – snacking on Sun-Maid natural raisins," said Sun-Maid Marketing Director Jackie Grazier. "It's a perfect combination of childhood favorites – well-loved children's books and Sun-Maid Raisins."
Raisins are 100% fruit – nutritious, wholesome, all natural with nothing artificial added. While raisins provide natural energy necessary for activities like learning to read, a recent study showed that raisins as a snack also promote satiety – the feeling of being full – to help avoid overeating. Raisins are also a source of boron; research has indicated that boron may play a role in brain function and can be an essential nutrient.
Snack 'n' Read Free Book Offer is promoted on bags of Sun-Maid 12-count mini snacks with character stickers inside. Everyone who enters to win is automatically entered into a sweepstakes drawing for one of ten HarperCollins Children's Story Time Library Sets with books and plush toys valued at more than $200. No purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes; details are at www.sunmaidoffer.com
"We're thrilled with our continued work with Sun Maid to get our content into the hands of so many families," said Andrea Rosen, Senior Vice President, Special Markets, HarperCollins Publishers.
