The award recognizes Ms. Gill for her career-long work of advocating for social and economic change, and in particular for her leadership role regarding inclusion and diversity in the auto industry.
The setting of the presentation holds extra significance for Ms. Gill, who created the Automotive Summit event seventeen years ago as a member of Rev. Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH executive team. Under Ms. Gill's leadership, the Automotive Project negotiated over $4 billion in business contracts for more than 100 minority businesses.
