VILNIUS, Lithuania, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Cybersecurity company Surfshark – uniting an ecosystem of privacy and security brands such as Incogni, Ironwall, and HeyPolo – has announced a major expansion. The company has completed the acquisition of the majority stake of Optery, a US-based data removal company specializing in deleting personal information from search engine results, data brokers, and people-search sites. Brands will continue to operate as independent and autonomous companies.
Driven by the growing critical need for personal data control in an AI-driven landscape, the acquisition aligns with the group's strategic commitment to invest in top-tier privacy solutions and strengthen individual security against evolving digital threats. By bringing Optery's specialized scanning technology, detailed screenshot reporting, and extensive US data broker coverage, this acquisition strengthens user protection and accelerates innovation across the cybersecurity industry.
"At Surfshark, our goal is to empower people to take full control of their digital lives," said Vytautas Kaziukonis, founder and chairman of the board at Surfshark. "With Optery on board, we're further expanding our personal data protection capabilities and unlocking exciting new potential for innovation."
"Joining the Surfshark is an exciting milestone that reflects a strong shared commitment to prevent cyber and physical threats with personal data removal," said Lawrence Gentilello, CEO and founder of Optery. "By pooling our knowledge with Incogni, Ironwall, and Surfshark, we can collaborate extensively to deliver even greater protection for our users."
"Our goal has always been to give people absolute control over their digital footprint," said Darius Belejevas, CEO of Incogni. "With the acquisition of Optery, we are doubling down on its mission to tackle the root cause of scams and privacy violations – the widespread monetization of personal data. With Optery's deep US-market expertise and Incogni's global scale, we will be able to create an unmatched defense for everyday internet users."
Standalone operations and autonomous structure
While now part of the Surfshark, Optery will continue to operate as a standalone company. Incogni, Ironwall, and Optery will maintain separate teams, client bases, technical architectures, and features.
Optery becomes the second strategic acquisition for Surfshark. It follows the 2024 acquisition of Ironwall, a data-removal service dedicated to public sector officials, government employees, and executive teams.
