NEW YORK, Dec. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SWEATT, an all-new dating app for the fitness community, today announced its launch into the Apple App Store. SWEATT was created based on the belief that great dates and great relationships start with strong, motivated, confident people. Not exclusive to athletes and the physically elite, SWEATT is designed for anyone with a real commitment to the fitness lifestyle, from bootcampers and cyclists, to yogis and CrossFit junkies. SWEATT creates smart matches based on a shared lifestyle and a mindset - a commitment to fitness. It's commonplace to find fantastic potential partners while working out, but in actuality gyms and jogging paths aren't always the best places to meet. Enter SWEATT.
"Fitness is so much more than the time we spend working out. Our commitment to fitness dictates so many of the choices we make on a daily basis. Chances of compatibility are heightened when you choose to date people with shared interests, lifestyles and mindsets," said SWEATT Founder Dan Ilani. "People have developed this love/hate relationship with dating apps because while they are a great platform to connect, they are also filled with people who aren't serious and just aren't good matches. Instead of making life easier, they often feel like they create more disappointment. SWEATT solves that problem by bringing together a community of like-minded people."
The fitness-centric lifestyle has exploded in our culture, and SWEATT incorporates unique features that speak to those who live it. In addition to basic profile information, users' profiles include their two top fitness activities, favorite time of day to work out, average number of workouts per week and preferred 'fuel.' SWEATT does not represent a myopic network in which yoga lovers meet only other yogis, CrossFitters only other CrossFitters and Paleos only other Paleos. SWEATT creates intelligent matches, taking into consideration that the fitness community comprises a spectrum of people, ranging from "weekend warriors" to those who live it seven days a week.
SWEATT offers a simple and engaging user experience. The app authenticates users through Facebook, asks a few key onboarding questions that kickstart the matching algorithm, and allows for photo uploads from Facebook, Instagram, photo reel or camera. Users specify their preferred geographical distance, age range and sexual preferences to sort who appears in their feed. SWEATT's user interface puts precedence on large format photos and a more personalized experience than many mainstream dating apps. Digressing from other dating apps' swipe left or right thumbnail format, SWEATT allows users to swipe through full-screen photos of other users and scroll through their information on elegant pull tabs.
A major aesthetic point of difference lies in the way SWEATT's matches are displayed. Once two members match, they are notified that someone 'SWEATTS' them and are taken to a dynamic, Instagram-like feed. Whereas many dating apps create a list-view of matches comprised of thumbnail images and first names, SWEATT's emphasis on imagery serves as a double opt-in, so users don't have to scroll back through profiles to decide whether or not they want to start chatting. Users can also quickly update their match photos without changing their profile images, to connect on a more personal and in-the-moment way with their matches. Matches expire after 21 days of inactivity to keep engagement relevant and interesting and encourage a community of active users.
"We designed SWEATT to make connections happen faster and make sure people aren't missing out on someone great because they got buried in their match list," said Ilani. "At the end of the day, our users don't want 1000 matches, they want a partner."
SWEATT launches in the U.S. compatible with iOS operating systems. To be among the first to use the app, people can sign up now to be added to the waitlist, gaining free access. SWEATT is now available for download from the Apple App Store. www.getsweatt.com
