BALTIMORE, Aug. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- After the first six months, 2016 is already shaping up to be another momentous year for Sylvan Learning, as the nation's leading supplemental education resource and enrichment program provider celebrates a four percent year-over-year growth in enrollments. This impressive development comes as Sylvan's Math EDGE enrollment skyrockets 62.4 percent and Sylvan becomes the leading national provider of STEM education.
At the forefront of Sylvan's growth during the first half of 2016 is the brand's network of franchisees. To date, more than 80 percent of current franchisees have signed a new franchise license agreement and operating requirements designed to increase flexibility and profitability since it was first unveiled this spring. Center operations will also be optimized through state-of-the-art technology and targeted marketing practices will be used to reach more families. The new franchise model is being embraced by existing franchisees while also appealing to new franchise candidates eager to join the system.

After launching Sylvan's EDGE program last year, which focuses on robotics, coding and engineering courses, Sylvan wanted to inspire and inform the next generation of STEM heroes this summer with its Grand STEM Challenge camp. Offered at centers throughout the country, these five-day camps created an opportunity for children to problem solve real word challenges and compete against their Sylvan peers across the nation. Not only did the camp focus on STEM, but on collaboration, team building and communication.
