SZD Whiteboard Welcomes State Economic Development Leader
COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- SZD Whiteboard is pleased to announce that Steven R. Schoeny has joined its economic development team as principal. Schoeny is former director of the Ohio Department of Development's (ODOD) Strategic Business Investment Division where he led statewide economic development deals generating in excess of $1.4 billion in capital investment and 10,000 jobs for Ohio.

Schoeny will lead a collective team of professionals and attorneys across Whiteboard and its parent firm, Schottenstein Zox & Dunn. The group will accelerate and deliver client solutions from within Whiteboard's economic development practice, including strategically negotiating deals for companies looking to expand, consolidate or relocate in the Midwest. Schoeny will also help Ohio communities with their economic development plans to retain and attract jobs and capital investment.
Schoeny brings to SZD Whiteboard an unparalleled understanding of state and local incentive programs, how incentive deals are done and the relationships needed to put it all together. While with ODOD, he managed more than $500 million in state loan, grant and administrative funds and led the redevelopment of Ohio's economic development incentive programs to focus on retention of existing businesses, encouragement of green technology deployment and effective analysis of the state's competitive position on each deal.
He has also served as manager of the Office of Tax Incentives and executive director of the Ohio Tax Credit Authority. Prior to his work with ODOD's Strategic Business Investment Division, Schoeny served as the assistant deputy director of its Global Markets Division.
Schoeny received two undergraduate degrees, one in political science and the other in economics, from Ohio University and his Masters of Public Management from the University of Maryland's School of Public Affairs.
