Table Games Revenue for December Up More Than 15%

HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported today that gross revenue from the play of table games at Pennsylvania casinos in December 2014 increased 15.3% over revenue in December 2013.

The report was posted on the Board's web site, www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, under the Revenue section of the site. The gross table games revenue breakdown for each of the casinos in December 2014 compared with December 2013 revenue is as follows:

The December increase boosted 2014 gross table games revenue to an amount 2.7% above that for 2013 ($749.5 million compared to $729.8 million). Casino-by-casino comparisons for the calendar year are in the following chart:

Coupled with the earlier announced increase of nearly 6% in slot machine revenue during December 2014, Pennsylvania's casinos showed a combined gaming revenue increase of 8.2% over December 2013.

Looking at calendar year 2014, combined gaming revenue dropped 1.44% from 2013, but still marked the 4^th straight year in which the revenue figure topped $3 billion ($3.07 billion from $3.11 billion).

The following chart tracks slot machine and table games gross revenue since the first slots-only casino opened in November 2006.  Table games were added to Pennsylvania casinos in July 2010.

Tax revenue in 2014 from the combined play of slot machines and table games was $1,347,672,231. Slot machines are taxed at an approximate 54% rate while table games are taxed at 14%.

Total gaming revenue generated since the first casino opened in Pennsylvania totals over $19.5 billion through the end of 2014, while revenue returned to Pennsylvania citizens in the form of taxes and license fees is approximately $10.5 billion.
