TCL Communication and KnowRoaming Announce the Smart Roaming Solution

BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL Communication and KnowRoaming are announcing the development of the "Smart Roaming" Soft SIM solution, allowing users to benefit from a handset-integrated, low-cost roaming solution while traveling abroad.

Thanks to KnowRoaming's entirely virtualized SIM technology, users' smartphones can automatically connect to data services when in foreign countries. Users can access KnowRoaming's low rates and be in total control of their expenses through the app. In the future, this technology will be natively integrated into select TCL Communication's handsets starting with the Chinese market, before launching in other global markets where the company's mobility division operates under the ALCATEL brand.

Thanks to KnowRoaming's technology, end users can seamlessly access low-cost roaming when traveling with smartphones made by TCL Communication. For global travelers this means no more chasing Wi-Fi networks, buying expensive carrier packages, or swapping SIM cards.

This successful collaboration was made possible thanks to TCL Communication's startup acceleration program in North America, the ALCATEL Innovation Accelerator. KnowRoaming was selected for this program in March 2015, and has been working with TCL Communication's teams on a final product offering since. This program, also launched in Europe, aims to transform business opportunities into valuable partnerships between innovative startups and the TCL Communication.
