Ted Dean Assumes Role as 2011 AmCham-China Chairman

BEIJING, Jan.4, 2011/PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Ted Dean has officially begun duties as 2011 Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in the People's Republic of China (AmCham-China) following his election by the organization's membership in November. For the last two years, Ted served on the AmCham-China Board of Governors as a Vice Chair.

"China continues to represent one of the best opportunities for the US to expand exports," Ted said. "A healthy bilateral economic relationship between the US and China is good for AmCham-China member companies and good for the US economy. AmCham-China has a major role to play in keeping that relationship on track."

AmCham-China members recently elected a new slate of officers to lead the organization for 2011, including Mr. Dean as Chairman, three Vice Chairs and a 10-member Board. The tenures for all offices are one year. The role of the chairman includes representing the chamber and its interests, providing general supervision over the affairs of the chamber and recommending organizational appointments to the board of governors.

For the past 13 years, Mr. Dean has lived in China. He is President & Managing Director and a principal at BDA, which he originally joined in 1999. Ted is also a co-founder of Americans Promoting Study Abroad, a Washington, DC based non-profit that has brought public high school students from the US to Beijing since 2008. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago and an honors BA in History from Yale University. Ted also studied at Nankai University in Tianjin and Beijing Normal University.
