Teddy Dupay Announces "Threes for Kids" World Record Initiative
100% of Proceeds will go to Academy Prep Center of Tampa
TAMPA, Fla., June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Teddy Dupay, Florida's all time leading basketball scorer and current youth coach, announced today that he will attempt to break multiple world records for the most basketball 3 pointers. Dupay's record setting attempt is open to the public on July 15, 2015 at The Dream Center of Tampa gym and all proceeds will benefit Academy Prep Center of Tampa, a non-profit school dedicated to educating economically disadvantaged middle school students.
"I love helping kids and I love basketball with a challenge!" said Dupay. "The Academy Prep Centers give kids a shot and I'm excited to have the opportunity to raise money and visibility for this organization. We believe every child deserves a shot at a productive future and an equal opportunity to get a great education."
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the current world record for the most basketball 3 pointers in 24 hours was set in 2012 at 10,381. Dupay will attempt to beat this record, as well as 6 others, by shooting the most 3 pointers in set amounts of time.
"Teddy Dupay serves as an outstanding example of what it means to give back in return for all that's been given," said Lincoln Tamayo, director of operations for the Academy Prep Centers of Tampa and St. Petersburg. "We are touched that he wishes to support our students."
Dupay has already secured the support of several leaders in the Tampa Community who will serve as "Official Guinness Book Celebrity Witnesses". Leaders include, Simeon Rice, former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Thaddeus Bullard, WWE superstar, Bob Gries, professional sports franchise owner and Nick Friedman, President of College Hunks Hauling Junk.
Administrative support for the fundraiser is being provided by the Prep of South Tampa, a non-profit organization whose mission is to impact families and youth in the Tampa community through sports, education and fitness.
