2027 Edition of "5StarWines – the Book" Confirms Double Award for Cembra Valley Winery
VERONA, Italy, Sept. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Vinitaly and Veronafiere are pleased to spotlight Tenuta Gottardi, the Val di Cembra winery named Winery of the Year – Grand Vinitaly at 5StarWines – the Book 2027, the guide featuring the 636 top-scoring wines from this year's prestigious 5StarWines selection event, now available in digital format on the official website and in paperback on Amazon.
The 10th edition of 5StarWines took place from 7–9 April 2026, in the days preceding Vinitaly 2026 in Verona. Following three days of blind tastings by a panel of 49 international judges, Tenuta Gottardi claimed a striking double win, taking home both the 'Winery of the Year – Grand Vinitaly' and 'Best Italian Wine – Banco BPM' trophies for its Trento Doc Extra Brut Riserva Posad'Or 2017, which scored an impressive 98 points. The same wine was also honoured as Best Traditional Method Sparkling Wine among the seven trophies awarded this year, crowning the very best of the 636 wines selected from roughly 2,000 tasted.
A Family Story Rooted in the Cembra Valley
Founded in 2016, Tenuta Gottardi is a young, family-run winery built on vineyard terraces that have belonged to the Gottardi family for generations, in the Cembra Valley near Trento, an area renowned for heroic viticulture and more than 700 kilometres of historic dry stone walls. The estate's history is closely bound to that of the valley itself, where the local porphyry stone, known as "red gold", has long driven the local economy: the founders' grandparents worked the land for subsistence while their children took up the trade of porphyry laying, or "posador". Today's generation carries both legacies forward, and it is this heritage that gives the winery's flagship wine its name.
Posad'Or - the Trentodoc Brut behind this year's double win- is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, grown on terraces above 600 metres and aged for 40 months on the lees, yielding a straw-yellow sparkling wine with a fine, persistent perlage and a bouquet of spice and crusty bread. It is one of several Trentodoc and still wines, including Pinot Nero, Lagrein, Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau, that make up the estate's portfolio.
