Tepper School of Business Appoints Hollifield as Head of Undergraduate Business Administration Program
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University has appointed Burton Hollifield, PNC Professor of Finance, as the new head of its Undergraduate Business Administration program.
Hollifield has taught financial economics at the undergraduate, master's and doctorate levels at the Tepper School since 1998, specializing in market microstructure, asset pricing, financial intermediation, and empirical methods. He has been presented with several teaching awards, including the Tepper School of Business Teaching Award in the Undergraduate Business Administration Program and the 2009 George Leland Bach Teaching Award in the MBA Program.

In this newly created position, Hollifield will provide strategic direction for the Undergraduate Business Administration Program and implement the newly adopted changes recommended by the curriculum committee that he co-chaired. He also will facilitate the strategic growth of the program while maintaining its strong student services and advising component.

Hollifield earned his Ph.D. in financial economics from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration (renamed the Tepper School of Business in 2004). Prior to joining the faculty, he was an assistant professor of finance at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
In conjunction with Hollifield's appointment, the leadership of the Undergraduate Business Administration program was restructured. Stephen Pajewski has been promoted to acting executive director, overseeing program growth, student advising, and program operations. Pajewski's operational role will complement Hollifield's strategic role in directing the program. In addition, Rubab Jafry O'Connor will serve as the director of the program and will be responsible for advising students, and overseeing student activities and clubs.
Pajewski is preceded in his position by Milton Cofield, who will remain on the Tepper School faculty working full-time as a Distinguished Teaching Professor of Business.
Also joining the program's staff this fall is Tara Trapani, whose primary role is in academic advising. Trapani is no stranger to Carnegie Mellon, having graduated from the Heinz College Master's in Public Management Program.
