HOUSTON, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Orna Feinstein, a mixed media Texas artist specializing in printmaking and sculpture, will show her new innovative three-dimensional and kinetic monoprints at the Anya Tish Gallery in Houston, with the opening reception scheduled for October 15, 2010 from 6:00-8:30 pm.
For more than ten years Feinstein has used the process of relief printing on paper using found soft materials, combined with templates she creates by hand. The sculptural approach to a two-dimensional print process leads to three-dimensional monoprints, creating depth and movement.
"Forest" and "Opti-Tree" are two new series she began in 2010. The printing with oil-based inks was done on paper, fabric and Plexiglas. When all surfaces were dry she assembled or stitched them together.
"The Rings Series began as regular two-dimensional prints, and through the years advanced gradually into three-dimensional and kinetic art works," Feinstein says. "I printed on various fabrics which were then stitched onto a printed paper, creating depth and visual effects that cannot be achieved by a single layer."
The exhibition will run from October 15-November 13. The Anya Tish Gallery is located at 4411 Montrose Boulevard in Houston, telephone 713-524-2299, www.anyatishgallery.com.
