Texas State Optical, Inc. Elects New Board Leadership
HOUSTON, Aug. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Doctors of Texas State Optical is pleased to announce election of its Board of Directors and Board Officers, effective July 1, 2017. The following TSO Board members will serve as the organization's newly appointed Officers: Dr. Benny Peña, TSO Chairman of the Board Chair (Fredericksburg, TX); Dr. Alexander Chen, (Houston, TX); Dr. Jon House, (Bryan, TX); Dr. Reid Robertson (Allen, TX); Dr. Jonathan Sher (McKinney, TX); and non-shareholder Dr. Mark Wright, President of Pathways to Success (Westerville, OH). Past Chairman of the Board, Dr. Stephen Stanfield (San Marcos, TX), was re-elected to a new two-year term.

In 2014, the TSO Board made a decision to dedicate three board positions to professionals in the industry from outside of the group of TSO shareholders. This is to provide the organization with an outside and more national perspective of the optometry and optical industries.
Dr. Wright is filling the seat of former board member and President of GPN Jay Binkowitz. He will be serving beside two additional non-shareholder board members, C. Edward Buffington, former VSP Vision Care Vice President, and Jack V. Gunion, Partner at Motivity Capital Partners, LLC.
Dr. Mark Wright graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1980. He is an assistant clinical professor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry, and member of the Central Ohio Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, is a Certified Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, and is the chairperson of the Ohio Optometric Association Health Systems Committee and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development Insurance Committee. He is a member of The Ohio State University Dean's Advisory Board and Vice-President of the Ohio Eye Health Network.
Dr. Wright has numerous publications and lectures nationally on the topics of managed care, sports vision, and vision and performance. He is recognized for his work in the area of visual problems affecting performance at work, school, and play.

TSO's incoming Board of Directors and Officers will continue to oversee the long-term strategic plan for TSO, enabling the Doctors of TSO to advance their mission, vision and strategic objectives to become Texan's first choice in eye care.
