LEWISVILLE, Texas, Aug. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On August 24th more than six thousand 3rd through 12th grade students across Texas will log on to Texas Virtual Academy (TXVA) to greet their teachers and classmates for the 2015-2016 academic year as the school marks its fourth year of operation in the state.
TXVA, a Responsive Education Solutions (ResponsiveEd®) school, is a full-time, tuition-free online program that uses personalized instruction, an interactive curriculum, and individual attention, combined with the support of Texas-certified teachers and an active school community to help students achieve academic success in ways that suit their learning style.
Sara Baker, Head of School at TXVA, always looks forward to the start of the new academic year. "Like any school, you are always eager to greet your returning students and meet the new ones. As a virtual program, our students typically work from home, but they build important relationships with our teachers. We work together with parents, who are often serving as teaching guides, to support all of our students and make sure their unique needs are met and that they reach their academic goals," she said.
TXVA is able to highly customize every students learning through the K12 curriculum program. Lessons are delivered online using the award-winning curriculum and tools provided by K12, a leading provider of online school programs. TXVA provides courses in language arts/English, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as elective and Advanced Placement®. TXVA also offers a range of extracurricular activities, opportunities for advanced learners and social gatherings and events.
Texas Virtual Academy is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency and the Southern Association of College and Schools Council.
In May, TXVA was lauded for a dramatic improvement in Reading and Mathematics scores. A recent K12 report has also shown that the longer students stay enrolled in the online charter school, the better they perform.
TXVA is still accepting enrollments for grades 3-8. The school is holding information sessions throughout the state so that interested parents can learn more about the online school and meet school staff. Upcoming events include:
San Antonio Discovery Days: 1-4 PM Thursday, August 20, 2015, Main Event Entertainment, 1911 North Loop 1604 East
