The 29-Day 15th West Lake Expo to Open on October 12

HANGZHOU, China, Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The 29-day 15th West Lake International Expo Hangzhou, China, which is co-organized by the China National Tourism Administration, General Administration of Sport of China and Zhejiang Provincial Government and hosted by Hangzhou Municipal Government, will kick off on October 12.

This year's West Lake Expo will focus on promoting economic and technological developments. Building on the success of the Economic Cooperation Conference last year, the expo further expands its depth and breadth by integrating economic and technology-related resources and events with focus on a series of themed programs.

The event will also leverage the success of the International Congress "Culture: Key to Sustainable Development" to boost the development of the tourism, leisure, hospitality and related sectors in Hangzhou by offering cultural experience activities alongside those promoting tourism and leisure. As part of the 15th West Lake Expo, a wide range of activities will be held, including: the Culture Tour of the 15th West Lake Expo; Experiencing Day for friends from International Sister Cities; Award Ceremony of China International Press Photo Contest; International Design Management Conference; Dahongyin Rose Wedding Ceremony; China Folk Art Festival; Sino-French Cultural Exchange; and, Creative Life Festival of College Students in China. In line with the country's strategy to stimulate demand and consumption as well as to accelerate the integration of urban and rural areas, organizers will also hold the 15th West Lake Expo Public Recreation Festival.

The West Lake Expo will continue to hold its traditional events including: the China International Service Outsourcing Fair; the China (Hangzhou) Crafts & Fine Arts Expo; the World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Convention; the Zhejiang Hangzhou International Career Fair; the China (Hangzhou) Leisure Development International Forum; the West Lake International Music Festival; and, the Thousand-Isle Lake Water Festival.

This year's West Lake Expo is expected to achieve trade turnover of 10 billion RMB (approx. US$1.6 billion), and attract US$1 billion in foreign and 10 billion RMB (approx. US$1.63 billion) in domestic investment, in addition to highlighting industrial development and cultural exchanges. The event will provide more than 100,000 square meters for exhibitors, with more than 20 percent of the booths reserved for foreign exhibitors. The expo is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors from more than 40 countries and over 10,000 professional oversea buyers.
