State Schools Chief to be Among Attendees 3-Day Event That Will Present Updates & Trends on Critical Issues Impacting K-12 Schools and Their Communities

LOS ANGELES, July 30, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 3rd Annual Safe Schools Conference — a special 3-day event for K-12 administrators, teachers, counselors and others, including parents, campus police and law enforcement agencies, to provide updates and trends on a variety of safe schools issues:  alcohol and substance abuse, including energy drinks; cyber bullying and cyber security; dropout prevention; gangs and youth violence, including girl bullying; school climate; and, teen suicide threat assessment.

WHY: To help educators from around Southern California learn about critical safe schools issues and cost-effective strategies to address them. The conference will discuss the links between campus safety and academic achievement.
The keynote speakers will be California Superintendent of Public Instruction
Tom Torlakson, Long Beach Police Cmdr. Josef Levy and Chauncy Veatch, the first California Drug Czar and 2002-03 National Teacher of the Year.
