NEW YORK, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The ADVERTISING Club of New York, the industry's leading professional organization representing the vision and mission of the global advertising community across crafts, will honor Dana Anderson, SVP, Chief Marketing Officer, Mondelez International, as its 2014 Advertising Person of the Year at a celebratory cocktail event on Thursday, November 13, 2014. Sponsored by Yahoo, the event will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Dream Hotel located in downtown New York.
Anderson, a 25-year advertising veteran and influential voice in the industry, was recently promoted from SVP of Marketing and Communications and Strategy at Mondelez International to SVP, Chief Marketing Officer. In her new role, she is accountable for the company's global portfolio of advertising, media and marketing partners and oversees the teams responsible for agency relations, brand equity, brand strategy, marketing capabilities, media and digital. Anderson has demonstrated innovative marketing approaches through her strategic and game-changing work with major Mondelez International brands like Oreo, belVita and Cadbury. Recently, Anderson's enthusiastic approach, in partnership with Droga5, garnered much attention with Honey Maid's bold campaign, "This is Wholesome," which showcased an array of modern and diverse families.
"We are excited to recognize Dana for her influential work in our industry with the 2014 Advertising Person of the Year award," said Gina Grillo, President & CEO of The ADVERTISING Club of New York. "For decades, she has dedicated herself to pushing boundaries, making courageous and creative statements and driving this industry forward. Dana embodies all of the passion, intelligence and gumption of a true leader in marketing and advertising, and as a master of storytelling, her witty and insightful presence combined with her fearless nature are what make her so deserving of this award."
Past Advertising Person of the Year, Steve Pacheco, Managing Director of Advertising for FedEx, will present the award. To join in the celebration and to pay tribute to Anderson's achievement, Mondelez International agencies Wieden+Kennedy, Starcom and The Martin Agency will each present a "pitch" on how to best honor her. Other past recipients of the award include Esther Lee & Charlene Lake of AT&T (2012); Lisa Cochrane of Allstate (2011); Tony Ponturo & Bob Lachky of Anheuser-Busch (2010); Lawrence Flanagan of MasterCard (2009), among others. The AD Club will present a scholarship to a deserving advertising, marketing, or communications student under Anderson's name, with partial proceeds from this event earmarked for the scholarship.
