The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Receives Federal Grant to Award Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students

Partial Tuition Scholarships for Eligible Students are Available for 2011-2012 Academic Year

CHICAGO, LOS ANGELES and WASHINGTON, Aug. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, the leading non-profit graduate school focused exclusively on psychology and related behavioral sciences, is pleased to announce new scholarship opportunities for economically or environmentally disadvantaged students in specific programs. The scholarships are offered pursuant to a $166,870 grant through the Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students program (SDS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration. Established by the Disadvantaged Minority Health Improvement Act of 1990 (P.L. 101-527), the SDS program is intended to support the development, distribution and retention of a diverse, culturally competent health workforce that can adapt to the population's changing health care needs and provide the highest quality care for all.


One-year partial tuition scholarship awards are available for the 2011-2012 school year to TCSPP students who meet the SDS program criteria and are enrolled full-time in one of the following programs: the Clinical Psychology doctoral program (Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Campuses); the Clinical Psychology, Counseling Specialization master's program (Chicago Campus); the Counseling Psychology master's program (Washington, D.C. Campus); or the Marriage and Family Therapy master's program (Los Angeles, Westwood and Irvine Campuses).

To apply for the SDS scholarship through this federal grant, students must be U.S. citizens, enrolled full-time throughout the entire 2011-2012 academic year in one of the aforementioned degree programs, and from an "economically or environmentally disadvantaged background," as defined by the SDS program. The application deadline is August 20, 2011.
