With An Admission That Various Doctors Have Suggested Sheen Suffers With Bipolar Disorder Dr. Oz Runs Through a Checklist of Symptoms and Urges the Actor Seek Treatment
NEW YORK, Jan. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The three-time Daytime Emmy Award winning Dr. Oz Show continues its exclusive coverage of the fascinating journey of actor Charlie Sheen touching on a revelatory and life or death topic – his diagnosis of bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression. In previous shows Dr. Oz interviewed Sheen about his diagnosis of HIV, his treatment regimen, as well as his desire to search for a cure. These are common concerns for patients with bipolar disorder and Dr. Oz invited a psychiatrist to the studio to address Sheen's questions. Dr. Oz also explores a checklist of symptoms with Charlie to measure the criteria of whether he should seek treatment. An overarching message throughout the show is that a person with a bipolar diagnosis can live a very happy and productive life with a well-thought-out treatment plan and a supportive doctor. Dr. Oz also conveyed to Sheen that he believed not only was manic depression the most serious health matter he needed to address, but also likely a major contributing factor to the addictions that have caused trouble in Sheen's life – alcohol, drugs, sex and gambling.
