LOS ANGELES, April 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Easter arrives early on Skid Row - - Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 11:00am – 2:30pm where hundreds of homeless & poor children and their families will celebrate with a beautiful homemade Easter chicken lunch complete with all the trimmings, specially decorated handmade Easter Baskets full of toys and candy for every child, music, face painting, balloon pets. Each family will also be given a Food Bag with fresh produce when they leave, as well as warm Blankets, new socks, and other basic necessities.
Hundreds of volunteers will bow their knees and heads and pray a personal Easter Blessing for each individual attending.
An inspirational Easter service celebrating Christ's resurrection will give hope to our homeless guests. They will then be served a delicious Easter dinner of Barbecued Chicken, Rice, Fresh Vegetables, and a Dinner Roll, and the meal will be topped off by a homemade Fruit Cobbler that has been lovingly prepared by the Mission staff and volunteers.
Anyone and everyone who is alone this Easter weekend are invited to join us for an inspirational message of hope, and a delicious Easter dinner.
God's love and excitement will fill the air as we celebrate that new life can be breathed into dead things and into the hopelessness of Skid Row. Easter's resurrection promise gives new life hope to us all, especially our poor, homeless, forgotten friends here on Skid Row.
Hundreds of volunteers from all over the Southland will be giving these impoverished children, men and women more than a great meal and an Easter basket. They will share with them God's transforming love and miraculous hope. These amazing volunteers who come from all walks of life have their own interesting unique stories of what led them to spend their Easter Saturday spreading joy on Skid Row.
For well over 70 years, the Fred Jordan Mission has fed millions of homeless, hurting and hungry people every day.
