The First American Corporation Announces Investor Relations Appointment

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF), America's largest provider of business information, announced today that Dan Smith has been named senior vice president of investor relations for the company's Information Solutions Group.

Smith has more than 18 years of experience in the financial services arena, most recently as vice president and chief financial officer of Freddie Mac's multifamily business unit. Prior to that assignment, Smith was a leader in Freddie Mac's investor relations department for five years.

Before joining Freddie Mac in 2002, Smith served as director of corporate development at Teligent, Inc. and previously held investment banking positions with Banc of America Securities LLC, SBC Warburg Dillon Read, Smith Barney Shearson and Bankers Trust Company.

Smith holds an A.B. degree from Princeton University and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
