The first edition of the Cadiz Global Cup brings nearly 600 youth players to Spain, including teams from 10 U.S. Cities

MARSHALL, Texas, July 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The first edition of the Cadiz Global Cup, an international youth soccer tournament, brought together nearly 600 players, including more than 100 from the United States, for three days of competitive matches in the province of Cadiz, in southern Spain, from June 27 to 29.

Youth teams from 10 U.S. cities—Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Salt Lake City—joined Spanish clubs at three official venues: the training grounds of Cádiz CF (Ciudad Deportiva Bahía de Cádiz), El Juncal Stadium in El Puerto de Santa María, and Novo Sancti Petri in Chiclana de la Frontera.

The tournament, organized by Global Soccer Development, featured 72 matches across four age categories (U12 to U19). It was held with the support of Cadiz CF, a professional club competing in La Liga, Spain's top division. With 115 years of history, Cádiz CF is internationally known for its passionate fan base and for having been the home of Magico Gonzalez, one of El Salvador's most iconic soccer players and a club legend whose name still resonates in world soccer.

The U.S. delegation, including players, coaches, and families, totaled approximately 180 people, many of whom arrived days before the event. The tournament created opportunities for cultural immersion, as participants explored local landmarks, cuisine, and beaches in the Andalusian region, known for its deep soccer tradition and Mediterranean character.

Cádiz, one of the oldest cities in Western Europe, offered visiting families and teams an enriching environment that combined sport with culture. The region is recognized for its historic coastal towns, warm climate, world-class gastronomy, and its proximity to major cities like Seville, Málaga, and even Gibraltar—making it an ideal setting for combining soccer development with travel and discovery.

For the young American players, the Cádiz Global Cup was an opportunity to compete against international teams in a European tournament setting—an experience increasingly sought after by youth academies and families seeking global exposure. The tournament provided a unique platform for personal and athletic growth.

In addition to the games, the tournament offered a family fun zone and concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the top teams from each category. Organizers plan to expand future editions based on the solid foundation laid this year.
