The Kay Foundation and Blue Jay Wireless Team Up to Donate Equipment to Youth in Cuba
CARROLLTON, Texas, Dec. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kay Foundation, along with the support of Blue Jay Wireless spearheaded a goodwill mission last month to donate and deliver baseball equipment and other items to young people in Cuba.
Formed in 2012, The Kay Foundation celebrates the memory of Kathryn C. Young. Its primary mission focuses on providing new and gently used equipment, as well as financial scholarships, to underprivileged children that want to participate in youth baseball. To date, hundreds of gloves, bats, balls, uniforms and other pieces of equipment have been distributed in the U.S. and other countries internationally. Founder of The Kay Foundation, Robert Young, talked about the opportunity to give, "We at The Kay Foundation are thrilled to be teaming up with Blue Jay Wireless through employee participation in their #giveaday program. They will help us provide new and gently used baseball equipment to support various youth organizations, both here in the U.S. and internationally."
The Kay Foundation has provided baseball gear to organizations in four U.S. cities and seven foreign countries. They most recently teamed up with the team at Blue Jay to distribute baseball equipment, uniforms, sports magazines and packages of MLB baseball cards in Cuba.
Young added, "Without the assistance of the leadership at Blue Jay Wireless, the recent delivery of a significant amount of baseball equipment to support youth ministries in both Camaguey and Mariel, Cuba, by The Kay Foundation would not have been possible."
Blue Jay Wireless employees participate in the #giveaday program, in which each employee takes one out of every ten work days to give back to the community by volunteering. That initiative is at the heart of this support for The Kay Foundation and its mission.
