AUSTIN, Texas, June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Shopgate, Inc., the leading cloud-based shopping app platform, announced today the addition of iOS Spotlight Search as part of the SaaS platform's offerings. Beginning immediately, Shopgate merchants will be able to index their apps and products in Apple's Spotlight search for iOS 9 or later, meaning that every search a consumer makes on their iOS device will yield relevant in-app results.

Apple's new search API for iOS 9 incentivizes an app-focused mobile ecosystem, leading a push against original web-based methodologies. With Shopgate's new feature, Apple users will be able to search for uninstalled apps in Spotlight search, as well as products and other content for installed apps. Shopgate continues to pursue an aggressive development strategy, adding the most up-to-date technologies to provide optimum searchability for client apps and mobile websites.
Indexed app pages will be surfaced through both a search in Spotlight or Siri. Spotlight Suggest will also show results in Safari as a user types in a query into the address bar before hitting enter, which means users may be directed to a deep link before getting a Google search result. Given that the majority of SEO strategies in the past have been Google-centric, this is important shift for mobile marketers.
