The Marathon Really Continues: Juice Lee Featuring Nipsey Hussle
Would you continue pushing a musical dream for over 16 years if almost everybody around you stopped believing it would happen?
Juice Lee did.
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Two recordings with roots in 2009 and 2011 return as newly reworked P-Mixes as Juice Division Distro CEO Juice Lee turns over 16 years of setbacks, disbelief, industry battles and independent-label development into the biggest campaign of his career.
On October 9, 2026, CEO Juice Lee will release Blue Dreams, a two-song project with Nipsey Hussle whose history stretches back to recordings created during two different periods of Lee's career.
The two songs do not share the same origin story.
But together they tell one larger story:
Juice Lee never stopped.
In 2026, Juice Division became the subject of a larger independent-music story after Lee says the company won two rights battles.
The first involved Juice Lee's & ALLBLACK If 16 Was a Letter album vs. Ghazi's Empire Distribution.
The second involved a Warner/IFPI-related challenge concerning Nipsey Hussle material.
Lee says the second victory was built from the same elements used in the first: historical communications, chain-of-title materials, ownership documentation, release records and formal counter-notice procedures. A true music industry David vs Goliath story. Juice Division made sure 35% of the writers share royalties are still allocated to the Nipsey estate for both tracks.
So When Juice Lee first reached out to Nip on MySpace in 2008, months later the original recordings were created, Juice Lee had something many young artists spend their entire careers chasing:
Access.
Records.
Relationships.
Opportunity.
What he says he did not yet have was the executive experience or infrastructure necessary to fully capitalize on those opportunities from a major label.
So he spent the following years developing the infrastructure he had been missing.
He built Juice Division Records.
He becomes one of the first black-owned music distributors & starts his website Juice Division Distro.
He developed Juice Division Records publishing.
And perhaps most importantly, he learned how different the music business looks from the CEO's chair.
Over Sixteen years later, the recordings were still there.
But Juice Lee was no longer just a rapper but an executive.
The CEO had finally caught up with the records using Nip law of persistence philosophy. #TMC
