"There are times … when someone is recruited away to another organization. Instead of feeling threatened by that, say, 'Listen, if that's the best opportunity for you, by all means take it,'" said Hixon.

"I think good leaders, the best ones, [have] a heart for the people who [work for them]. And they might be with you for just a season, but [you] appreciate that season and [can] see them go on and do what is best for them."
