'THE PICKLR HERITAGE CUP: A WOOD PADDLE TOURNAMENT' WILL COMMEMORATE THE 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF PICKLEBALL

SALT LAKE CITY, June 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Picklr, North America's fastest-growing and largest indoor pickleball franchise, announced that it will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Pickleball by hosting a wood paddle tournament at all their locations on National Pickleball Day (August 8, 2025). As a giveback to the community this sport has built, the inaugural tournament will be free to everyone at all 47 locations around the US. 

The Picklr Heritage Cup: A Wood Paddle Tournament will be a nostalgic event hosted on a national holiday to commemorate the sport's origins, which began in Bainbridge, WA, 60 years ago. All participants will compete using traditional wooden paddles to recreate the classic pickleball experience, honoring the game's roots for players at all skill levels. Players will be encouraged to come dressed in their best retro '60s attire and rally like it's 1965!

In addition to the free tournament on National Pickleball Day, The Picklr will host a Free Pickleball 101 class at each of its locations to introduce the game to new players. The one-hour foundational class will help players learn the basic rules, court positioning, scoring system and gameplay concepts of pickleball in a fun, welcoming, and beginner-friendly environment.
