The Takeaway and Studio 360® honored with National RTDNA Murrow Awards; PRI's The World® recognized with an RTDNA/UNITY Award

MINNEAPOLIS, June 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Radio-Television-Digital News Association (RTDNA) has awarded national Edward R. Murrow Awards to The Takeaway and Studio 360® from PRI and WNYC, and a UNITY Award to PRI's The World®.

The award for Network Radio Feature Reporting was given to PRI and WNYC's Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen for its story "Can Trauma Be Healed with Design," about the ways design can reclaim spaces that were the sites of tragedy, such as Columbine High School. Studio 360's host, Kurt Andersen, said, "Eric Molinsky has been an indispensable part of the Studio 360 team for years, and his piece did what we aim to do on the show every week — tell provocative, thoughtful stories about how design or art changes lives — and hit it out of the park. Given its particulars, it was and will sadly remain a profoundly timely and important subject. We are honored that his story has been acknowledged with this award."

The Murrow Award for Use of Sound/Video went to The Takeaway, a co-production of PRI and WNYC, for its story on a choral work based on the never-delivered speech President John F. The 2014 RTDNA/UNITY Award in Network Radio was given to PRI's The World, a co-production of PRI, WGBH/Boston and BBC World Service, for its Global Nation coverage, which details real-world stories of America's foreign-born residents, and how America's uneven immigration laws affect their lives — and the fabric of our nation.
