Now available for businesses and individuals, Sentinel protects sensitive information before it reaches supported AI tools, giving organizations a practical alternative to restrictive AI policies.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, SUPERWISE® announced expanded self-service availability of Sentinel, its AI data protection solution. Sentinel identifies supported sensitive information, such as customer email addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, payment card numbers, and the access keys that unlock company systems, and replaces it before the request reaches an AI provider.
Employees are using artificial intelligence to work faster, from drafting customer communications to analyzing information and completing everyday tasks. But as AI adoption accelerates, so does the risk of sensitive business information being shared with AI platforms.
For years, organizations have tried to manage that risk through policies, restrictions, and outright bans. Employees, however, continue finding ways to use AI, often outside company-approved systems.
Sentinel lets businesses keep both productivity and security: it protects sensitive information while employees continue using supported AI tools.
Sentinel is available with a 30-day free trial, no credit card required, and plans starting at $10 per month.
The AI ban isn't working
According to PagerDuty's June 2026 Shadow AI Survey of 1,250 office professionals across the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan, 66% reported using AI at work while believing they were not permitted to do so. Additionally, 31% reported entering confidential financial or strategic information into AI tools.
These findings highlight a growing disconnect between workplace policies and employee behavior.
Employees recognize the immediate productivity benefits of AI. Businesses recognize the security, privacy, and governance risks. Blocking access pushes usage into personal accounts and unmanaged workflows, leaving organizations with even less visibility.
Employees will use AI. The question for business is how to make that use safer.
Protect the information, and keep the access
"A ban does not stop AI. It just stops the company from seeing it," said Russ Blattner, CEO of SUPERWISE. "Telling people not to use AI is like telling them not to use email. The productivity benefits are too significant to ignore. Businesses need a way to embrace AI without unnecessarily exposing sensitive information. That is exactly why we built Sentinel."
Sentinel introduces data protection directly into supported AI workflows. When an employee submits a request containing supported sensitive information, Sentinel inspects the request locally and replaces recognized values with placeholders before the information reaches the AI provider.
The AI receives a modified request that still supports the employee's task, while recognized sensitive values are withheld. Businesses reduce unnecessary data exposure without asking employees to abandon the AI tools they rely on.
How Sentinel works
Sentinel provides three core capabilities:
1. Local data inspection. Supported AI requests are inspected on the user's own computer before they are sent to an AI provider. What employees type is not sent to SUPERWISE.
2. Sensitive information replacement. Recognized, supported personal and account details are replaced with placeholders, preserving the usefulness of the AI interaction while reducing sensitive-data exposure. Sentinel does not yet catch names, street addresses, passport numbers, or bank routing numbers; the live demo shows exactly what is and is not caught.
3. Privacy-conscious visibility. Sentinel keeps a log of what was checked and what happened, so a business can see its protections working. The log never contains what employees typed, and employees' requests and the AI's replies are never sent to SUPERWISE.
Together, these capabilities give organizations a way to introduce safeguards into everyday AI usage.
From restricting AI to governing it
As AI becomes embedded in daily business operations, organizations need solutions that balance productivity, security, and employee adoption. Policies remain important, but policies alone cannot prevent sensitive information from being entered into AI systems.
Sentinel closes that gap with an added layer of protection inside supported workflows. For small businesses, it is an accessible starting point for safer AI adoption. For larger organizations, it complements existing security and governance strategies.
The goal is safer AI, not less AI.
The 30-second test
The live demo runs a real prompt through Sentinel with no installation or sign-up required. Enter a fictional customer record, press send, and see exactly what the AI receives after Sentinel applies its protections.
Availability and pricing
Sentinel is available for online purchase, with plans starting at $10 per month. Current offerings include a Windows application for Windows 10 and 11, a command-line tool for developers on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and a Chrome and Edge browser extension for Windows, in preview for ChatGPT and Claude. A macOS application and expanded AI platform compatibility are planned.
