ThinkCure! Weekend Unites Los Angeles Against Cancer
Fundraising efforts at Dodger Stadium on August 9, 10, and 11 expected to raise thousands of dollars to help find a cure for cancer
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Like Dodgers baseball, ThinkCure! unites families and communities across Los Angeles in a common goal of finding a cure for cancer, which affects more than 100 families of newly diagnosed patients in Los Angeles each day. This weekend, as the Dodgers take on the Tampa Bay Rays at home, baseball fans will have the opportunity to show their support for ThinkCure!, and help fund collaborative cancer research at City of Hope and Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Since 2009, ThinkCure! has provided $1.8 million in research grants to City of Hope and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. This year's fundraising efforts are expected to result in hundreds of thousands of dollars for additional grants that will help set an example for medical advancement through true teamwork.
Throughout the weekend, fans can donate to ThinkCure! by texting the word "CURE" to 50555 for a $10 donation, or by visiting the ThinkCure! website at www.thinkcure.org. Volunteers at the three games will also be available to take in-person donations.
Leading cancer research doctors from City of Hope and Children's Hospital Los Angeles as well as cancer patients will be available for interviews leading up to and during ThinkCure! Weekend.
