Thinkfree Launches Embeddable Document Editor SDK for AI App Developers

New SDK family lets developers embed Office document editing and enable AI to work with documents through APIs

SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Thinkfree, a global software company specializing in document technology, today announced Document Editor SDK, a developer product family combining an embeddable office editor with structure-level document APIs. The SDKs let businesses turn AI-generated content into working documents, enabling AI applications and agents to act directly on document structure.

Document Editor SDK restructures Thinkfree Office, Thinkfree's web-based office solution, into a modular SDK for developers. Rather than adopting a complete office suite, developers can select and integrate only the document capabilities their applications need. The SDK family includes Editor SDK for document editing and Editor AI SDK for connecting LLMs with document editing. This approach can reduce the development effort required to build and maintain document editing capabilities in-house.

Editor SDK connects web applications with Thinkfree's document editing capabilities, allowing developers to embed word processor, spreadsheet and presentation editors that support Microsoft Office formats and other major document formats. Developers can also control documents through structure-level APIs that act on paragraphs, tables, cells, images and slides rather than on plain text.

Editor AI SDK connects LLMs to the same editing layer. Turning generated content into a working document requires more than text. Formatting, tables and images must be handled as document elements, and changes to one section can require regenerating or reformatting the document. Developers can connect a preferred LLM to Thinkfree's editing capabilities. Based on a user request, the LLM selects the appropriate document tools, and the application can validate and authorize each tool call before the SDK applies them to the document. Users can then review and continue editing the result in the same editor, without regenerating the document.

Document Editor SDK supports self-hosted deployment and cloud integration. Customers can deploy Thinkfree Office in their own environment or connect to a Thinkfree-managed environment through APIs. This lets businesses choose the deployment approach that fits their application architecture and security requirements.

As part of the launch, Thinkfree also introduced Thinkfree Developers, its developer portal. The portal brings together technical documentation, the Developer Console and a Playground. Developers can follow integration guides, test document editing workflows in code and evaluate AI-driven document interactions before integrating the SDKs into their products.
