WARREN, Mich., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 30,000 votes have been cast to help Art Van Furniture select the winner of the 2010 Art Van Million Dollar Charity Challenge $25,000 bonus award. Earlier this month, 50 Michigan charities received grants of $5,000 to $50,000 – and the competition for this final award is heated. Each of the 50 grant winners are competing for this final award, based on votes to the artvancharitychallenge.com website.
Time is running out! The voting began October 13th and ends when the polls close at 8pm on election day, Tuesday November 2nd. "This is one election that really has people excited to vote!" said Art Van Elslander, founder and chairman of Art Van Furniture. Art Van established the website artvancharitychallenge.com for the public to get to know the participating charities, to vote, comment and even make donations to these groups.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for people to discover what our great charities are doing throughout Michigan," said Diane Charles, Director of Corporate Communications "Getting the word out through this voting process has put all our charities in the spotlight, making them all winners."
The recipients are all Michigan-based nonprofits focused on children, health and human services programs. The grants were designed as challenge gifts in order to encourage others to donate and maximize fundraising opportunities.
The winner of the $25,000 bonus award will be announced on November 3, 2010.
