This Weekend, Poo~Pourri is Donating 100 Percent of Website Sales to Lotus Outreach International in Celebration of International Women's Day
Goal is to donate $30,000, enough to send 25 Cambodian girls to school
DALLAS, March 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Poo~Pourri announces that 100 percent of website sales from March 3-5 will be donated to Lotus Outreach International on March 4 and 5, the weekend before International Women's Day. Lotus Outreach International will use the funds to empower girls from rural communities in Cambodia and India through education.
When girls in poor, rural, Cambodian villages reach 11 or 12 years old, they have few paths to choose from. Their primary choices are to become a child bride, or cross into Thailand where they're promised jobs as nannies or servers, only to be sold into brothels. Education provides a crossroad for these girls, but school tuition and boarding costs are too expensive for most rural families.
That is why the non-profit Lotus Outreach International provides resources for girls in these situations through programs such as Girls Access to Education (GATE). Through GATE, girls in Cambodia receive scholarships to attend school. The cost is a simple $1,200 a year for classes, room and board, supplies, and all other expenses.
"Sometimes we feel our paths are limited by our circumstances, and it just takes one person to empower us by telling us we can be more. Sales from all products on Poo~Pourri's website, from the original Before-You-Go® toilet spray to t-shirts and tote bags, will be donated to Lotus Outreach International this weekend.
